The Noni plant has many folk-remedy uses. It is fabled among the Polynesian peoples to especially help support the body’s respiratory, immune, digestive, and structural systems. This Noni fruit comes to you in a powder drink mix with the added benefits of Indian mulberry, papaya, and aloe vera. Research Brief
Noni is receiving more and more attention from modern herbalists, medical physicians, and biochemists. Scientific studies within the last few decades lend support to the Hawaiian and Polynesians’ claims of its unusual healing power. Some of the health-related ingredients of Noni fruit that have been isolated are Morindone, Morindine, Acubin, Terpene compounds, L. Asperuloside, various Anthraquinones, Alazarin, Caproic Acid, Caprylic Acid, Scopoletin, Damnacanthal, and Alkaloids. Even though the Noni fruit has only negligible amounts of the beneficial alkaloid xeronine, the juice does contain very large amounts of a precursor to the essential alkaloid called proxeronine. Proxeronine is a colloid that, unlike most colloids, contains no sugars, amino acids, or nucleic acids and thereby has been overlooked by most biochemists. This compound initiates the release of xeronine in the intestinal tract after it comes in contact with a specific enzyme which is also contained in the Noni juice. This particular chemical combination is believed to significantly affect cellular function, which can determine a whole host of physiological reactions. Mulberry fruit is classified in the modern Chinese Materia Medica as a blood tonic. Traditionally, mulberry fruit has been used as a medicinal agent to nourish the yin and blood, benefit the kidneys, and treat weakness, fatigue, anemia, and premature greying of hair. It is also used utilized to treat urinary incontinence, tinnitus, dizziness, and constipation in the elderly and the anemic. Though not studied intensively, mulberry fruits appear to contain one main class of non-nutrient active constituents, which are the anthocyanins. Studies with anthocyanins in laboratory animals suggest antioxidant activity as a dominant feature, but also cardiovascular protection, immune enhancement, antiviral activity, and stress reduction as potential health benefits.

Papaya is an amazingly rich source of the proteolytic enzymes. These are the chemicals that enable the digestion of protein. Papain, which is the most important of these enzymes in the papaya, is extracted and dried as a powder for use to aid the digestion, and it is often used as a meat tenderizer, the enzyme partially breaking down the meat fibres – digesting them in fact.

Many experts, such as Dr Lytton-Bernard, have claimed rejuvenating properties for papaya, especially for the control of premature ageing. Those who find it almost impossible to digest anything frequently find that papaya used regularly, marks the turning point in the climb back to vitality and good health.

Papaya contains arginine which is known to be essential for male fertility and also carpain, an enzyme thought to be good for the heart. Fibrin also occurs and this substance is not commonly found in the plant kingdom; in man it forms part of the blood clotting process. The papaya is an excellent source of vitamin C. The subject of stress has become a favourite subject of everyday conversation. It is not unusual to hear friends, coworkers, family members, and ourselves, talk about the difficulty we have with managing the stress of everyday living. We talk about being burned out, overwhelmed and “losing it.” We also hear and talk about our efforts to control the events that cause stress, and most of us understand the results of not controlling our reactions to stress. It is well understood that stress may lead to cardiovascular risk. But most of us are unaware of the many other emotional, cognitive and physical consequences of unmanaged stress. Stress is expensive. We all pay a stress tax whether we know it or not. Currently, health care costs account for approximately 12 percent of the gross domestic product, escalating yearly. In terms of lost hours due to absenteeism, reduced productivity, and workers’ compensation benefits, stress costs American industry more than $300 billion annually, or $7,500 per worker per year.

Chronic stress destroys bodies, minds and lives. It wreaks havoc through long-term attrition. It’s the stress of poverty, of dysfunctional families, of being trapped in an unhappy marriage or in a despised job or career. Chronic stress comes when a person never sees a way out of a miserable situation. It’s the stress of unrelenting demands and pressures for seemingly interminable periods of time. With no hope, the individual gives up searching for solutions. A view of the world, or a belief system, is created that causes unending stress for the individual (e.g., the world is a threatening place, people will find out you are a pretender, you must be perfect at all times). When personality or deep-seated convictions and beliefs must be reformulated, recovery requires active self-examination, often with professional help. Chronic stress may be dangerous. People wear down to a final, fatal breakdown.

Because physical and mental resources are depleted through long-term attrition, the symptoms of chronic stress are difficult to treat and may require extended medical as well as behavioral treatment and stress management.
